Are you looking for ways to cut down on unhealthy snacking? Well, here's a tip: Get more sleep.
Sleep doesn't just help because your snoozing cuts down on your snacking time. It also seems to have some real physical benefits. A recent study found that when people slept only 5 1/2 hours a night they ate 220 extra calories from snacks -- mostly carby ones -- compared to those people who slept 8 1/2 hours.
The conclusion of the study:
Sleeping less in an obesity-promoting environment may facilitate the excessive consumption of energy from snacks but not meals.
